Job Specification

TRAINING TECHNICIAN  

DEFINITION:

Under direction, prepares and conducts inservice training and compiles information and data into manual form required for courses; does other related duties as required.

05691 - Bilingual in Spanish and English SPECIAL SKILL Applicants must be able to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in Spanish and English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

Conducts inservice training programs for which a structured planned outline has been developed.

Reviews agency policies and procedures and other resources for incorporation in training courses, training manuals, handbooks, or handouts, and compiles informational data.

May develop standard operating procedures for training purposes.

Devises measurable course objectives and corresponding behavioral objectives in teaching outlines and lesson plans to meet appropriate training needs.

Establishes evaluative procedures to determine the progress of participants and the effectiveness of the training program.

Prepares and operates audiovisual aids for specific training programs.

Provides lists of materials and equipment required for each lesson such as films, tape cassettes, booklets, and other supplies or duplicated training materials.

Schedules staff training programs and keeps accurate records of participants performance and evaluation.

May coach or conduct on-the-job training.

Provides consultation to staff in planning and developing programs either through inservice training and/or formal educational programs in accredited institutions.

Prepares necessary reports and keeps required records and files.

Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.

REQUIREMENTS:

NOTE: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.

Five (5) years of professional experience in employee development and training which shall have entailed the development of appropriate raining courses and materials, conducting of orientation, in-service, refresher, and employee development and training courses; or as a teacher or instructor involving the development of a course curriculum or lesson plans and preparation of course materials and the conducting of classes in an adult education, vocational education, job training program, or in an elementary school through college; or combination thereof.

OR

Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience.

OR

NOTE:"Professional experience" refers to work that is analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range of basic knowledge of the profession's concepts and practices; and is performed with the authority to act and make accurate and informed decisions.

LICENSE

Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of principles and techniques of on-the-job training.

Knowledge of the procedures and techniques of personnel administration.

Knowledge of problems involved in the presentation of organized classroom lectures.

Ability to analyze, comprehend, and interpret problems.

Ability to prepare training manuals, guides and other related material.

Ability to provide advice concerning the introduction of approved training plans, techniques and training materials.

Ability to organize assigned work and develop effective methods.

Ability establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and others involved in the work of the unit.

Ability to establish and maintain records and files.

Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.

Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
