Fire Fighter Examination: Deriving Candidate Scores

You must enter your candidate identification number (in most cases this is your SS#) in order to access these scores.  While calculating your final scores, please keep in mind the following:

• The eight (8) steps detailed below are the product of a fairly complex standardization process that involves some complex statistical calculations.

• Your test scores are rounded up during these calculations in a very precise manner.  The scores you calculate using a calculator will most likely be slightly different than your actual final score, because most calculators simply cannot carry out the very large number of decimal places that the computer system utilizes, when it calculates and rounds your score.  Most calculators can only accommodate up to seven (7) decimal places.

• This information is being provided by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission (NJCSC) as a courtesy to those who requested their component scores.  Due to the size of the population and our limited staff, we WILL NOT be able to provide any assistance with the formulas.  Please DO NOT call into the NJCSC asking for assistance with these formulas, as there will not be staff available to accommodate these requests.
