EDUCATION: Graduation from high school or vocational school or possession of an approved high school equivalency certificate.
AGE: Applicants must be 18 years of age or older at the announced closing date.
CITIZENSHIP: Applicants must be a citizen of the United States.
NOTE: At the time of appointment, applicants for this position must submit acceptable proof of meeting the indicated requirements.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Appointees must have successfully completed the police training course
administered by the Police Training Commission. This training includes successful attainment at a level of proficiency in the use of firearms.
NOTE: Candidates certified from the eligible list for this title may be required to undergo a medical examination administered by appointing authority. Any psychological, medical, or physical condition or defect which would prevent efficient performance of the duties of the position, cause the appointee to be a hazard to himself/herself or others, or become aggravated as a result of performance of these duties, will be cause for rejection.
NOTE: Appointees to this position shall qualify semi-annually in the use of firearms.
LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
The responsibility for ensuring that employees possess the required motor vehicle license, commensurate with the class and type of vehicles they operate, rests with the Appointing Authority.
