Job Specification

 EXECUTION CLERK

 DEFINITION

 Under  direction,  performs  highly responsible  and  specialized
 clerical work involving the issuing, processing and execution  of
 legal writs; does other related duties.

 NOTE: The  examples of work for this title are for illustrative
 purposes  only.  A particular position using this title  may  not
 perform all duties listed in this job specification.  Conversely,
 all duties performed on the job may not be listed.

 EXAMPLES OF WORK:

 Performs  specialized clerical work involved in the execution  of
 Law   and   Chancery  Writs  from  the  initiation  of  writ   to
 satisfaction.

 Receives and reviews writs for corrections.

 Dockets and/or indexes writs in appropriate ledgers.

 Maintains records of debits and credits on current executions.

 Computes the costs and fees for processing of writs.

 Answers inquiries from attorneys regarding unsatisfied writs  and
 requests instructions as to procedures to be followed.

 Forwards satisfied writs to the Clerk of the Superior Court.

 Acts  as  liaison  between  the  plaintiff's  attorney  and   the
 defendant  for  resolving difficulties in the  execution  of  the
 writ.

 Makes  decisions  requiring  thorough  knowledge  of  the  rules,
 regulations,  standards  and procedure regarding  specific  writs
 such  as  Wage Executions, Chattel Writs, Real Estate Writs,  and
 Motor Vehicle Writs.

 Prepares legal correspondence.

 Maintains records and files.

 Will  be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic
 and/or  manual  recording and information  systems  used  by  
 the agency, office, or related units.

 REQUIREMENTS:

      EXPERIENCE:

      Three (3) years of legal clerical experience.

      LICENSE:

      Appointees  will  be required to possess a driver's  license
 valid  in  New Jersey only  if the operation of a vehicle, rather
 than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties
 of the position.

 KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

 Ability  to  analyze  and  interpret  laws,  rules,  regulations,
 standards,  policies, and procedures relating to the  above  
 work examples and to apply them to specific cases.

 Ability   to  prepare  clear,  sound,  accurate  and  informative
 reports.

 Ability to keep needed records and files.

 Ability  to  utilize  various types of electronic  and/or  manual
 recording and information systems used by the agency, office,  
 or related units.

 Ability  to  read, write, speak, understand, and  communicate  
 in English  sufficiently  to  perform  duties  of  this   position.
 American  Sign  Language or Braille may  also  be  considered  
 as acceptable forms of  communication.
