GENERAL SUPERVISOR DEMOLITION

 

DEFINITION:

 Under  direction,  supervises supervisors, demolition  and  other
 employees  involved  in  the razing of  structures  and  removing
 debris  from buildings and surrounding areas; does other  related
 duties.

 NOTE: The  examples of work for this title are for illustrative

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

 Organizes  and  develops a suitable work program for  the  varied
 functions of the project.

 Gives  suitable  assignments and instructions to individuals  and
 groups and supervises their work.

 Supervises supervisors, demolition and other employees engaged in
 the  work involved in the demolition of buildings, clearing  away
 debris, filling in and leveling vacant areas.

 Assures that proper safety precautions are taken by employees  at
 work.

 Inspects  and checks work in progress or completed  to  see  that
 proper procedures are followed.

 Prepares reports.

 Obtains,  stores, safeguards, and supervises the  proper  use  of
 needed equipment, materials, and supplies.

 Keeps needed records and files.

 Will  be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic
 and/or  manual  recording and information  systems  used  by  the
 agency, office, or related units.

 REQUIREMENTS:

      EXPERIENCE:

      Two (2) years of supervisory experience in work involving the
 demolition of buildings.

      LICENSE:

       Appointees  will be required to possess a driver's  license
 valid  in  NJ  only  if the operation of a vehicle,  rather  than
 employee  mobility, is necessary to perform essential  duties  of
 the position.

 KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

 Knowledge  of  the  problems, procedures,  and  methods  used  in
 inspecting, analyzing, and determining the work to be done.

 Knowledge  of the problems involved in establishing, maintaining,
 and developing effective work programs and working procedures.


 Knowledge of the problems involved in giving suitable assignments
 and  instructions to groups and individuals and supervising their
 work.

 Knowledge  of the accepted procedures and processes used  in  the
 demolition of buildings.

 Knowledge   of  the  proper  methods  of  caring  for  equipment,
 materials, and supplies.

 Ability  to  analyze  the  problems involved  in  doing  building
 demolition of varied types of work.

 Ability  to  organize  assigned work and develops  suitable  work
 programs and working procedures.

 Ability to work harmoniously with associates and with other groups
 and  individuals engaged in or concerned with building demolition
 activities.

 Ability to obtain, store, safeguard, and supervise the proper use
 of needed equipment, materials, and supplies.

 Ability to keep records.

 Ability  to  utilize  various types of electronic  and/or  manual
 recording and information systems used by the agency, office,  or
 related units.

 Ability  to  read, write, speak, understand, and  communicate  in
 English   sufficiently  to  perform  duties  of  this   position.
 American  Sign  Language or Braille may  also  be  considered  as
 acceptable forms of communication.
