CERTIFICATION: Applicants must possess a certificate as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), issued by the Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners, New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, Department of Law and Public Safety. Please ensure to provide details of your license on your application. Failure to indicate possession of a current license as of the closing date will result in ineligibility. You may be required to provide a copy of a valid license upon appointment.

Applicants who possess the credential as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) are considered to have met the above certification requirement.  If you are using the credential as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) to meet the certification requirement, please upload a copy of your credentials with your application.  Failure to do so will result in ineligibility.

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in counseling or social work having responsibility for gathering and analyzing social or health information from clients, determination of their needs and planning and carrying out of a treatment plan geared to the needs of individual clients, one (1) year of which shall have included experience with persons addicted to drugs or alcohol in a narcotic or alcohol treatment, prevention, and/or rehabilitation program.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Appointees to the Marie H. Katzenbach School for the Deaf must be able to communicate effectively in the language of the deaf, particularly American Sign Language, sufficiently to perform duties of the position, and must successfully pass a screening process administered by the deaf and hard of hearing committee at the school.

LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

The responsibility for ensuring that employees possess the required motor vehicle license, commensurate with the class and type of vehicles they operate, rests with the Appointing Authority.
