NOTE: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
Six (6) years of professional experience in transportation planning including or supplemented by twenty-one (21) semester hour credits in professional planning subjects such as the principles of land use planning, history of city planning, planning project design, and planning law and administration.
OR
Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by twenty-one (21) semester hour credits in professional planning subjects such as the principles of land use planning, history of city planning, planning project design, and planning law and administration; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience.
OR
Possession of a master's degree in planning from an accredited college or university; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience. Please upload a copy of your transcript with your application. Failure to do so will result in ineligibility.
OR
Possession of a current, valid license as a Professional Planner issued by the NJ State Board of Professional Planners; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience. You may be required to provide a copy of a valid license upon appointment.
OR
Possession of a current and valid credential as a Certified Planner issued by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP); and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience. Please ensure to provide details of your license on your application. Failure to indicate possession of a current license as of the closing date will result in ineligibility. You may be required to provide a copy of a valid license upon appointment.
NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one's own judgment and make accurate and informed decisions.
Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service. Please upload a copy of your evaluation with your application. Failure to do so will result in ineligibility.
The responsibility for ensuring that employees possess the required motor vehicle license, commensurate with the class and type of vehicles they operate, rests with the Appointing Authority.
