EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Public Health, Community Health Education, Nursing or a related Health Education field. EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience assessing community health education needs and, in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of diversified health education programs in a local health department or state or local health agency.
NOTE: A Master's degree in one of the areas listed above may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience. If you are substituting a Master's degree for some of the required experience, please upload a copy of your transcript with your application. Failure to do so will result in ineligibility.
CERTIFICATION: Applicants must possess a certification as a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) issued by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing Inc. Please ensure to provide details of your certification on the application. Failure to indicate possession of a current certification as of the closing date will result in ineligibility. You may be required to provide a copy of a valid certification upon appointment.
NOTE: A Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a valid certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Community Health Nurse may be substituted for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) requirement specified above. If you are substituting a Bachelor's degree and certification for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) requirement, please upload a copy of your transcript and certification with your application. Failure to do so will result in ineligibility.
Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service. Please upload a copy of your evaluation with your application. Failure to do so will result in ineligibility.
LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
The responsibility for ensuring that employees possess the required motor vehicle license, commensurate with the class and type of vehicles they operate, rests with the Appointing Authority.
